This class is designed to last 60 minutes with a warm up and stretching to complete. For 45 minutes interval training will be intense and dog must be on this best behavior. The class is run by both an ACE certified trainer for you and a professional dog trainer/animal behavioralist for the dogs. What a great way to bond with your dog and achieve fitness knowledge and fun.

All dogs MUST be evaluated at least 1 week BEFORE your first class. In some cases this can be done on the phone. If however your dog has had no prior obedience then you will need to come to Canine College for your evaluation. Evaluations are FREE. Please call for appointment.

FAQs: General questions about the class and your dog’s participation.

When do classes begin?

Classes resume October 2011.

What you should I bring to class?

What should I wear?

Running shoes! Anything you are comfortable working out in. Layers are best so you can remove them as you warm up.

Class size and can you join up at any time?

We will limit the class size to 10. You can sign up, at any time, as long as there is space available.

What if I am out of shape?

All exercises can be modified to meet your fitness level but our goal is to challenge both you and your dog though out the class. The interval training approach that we use is one that benefits both owner and best friend.

How old does my dog need to be?

The class is for all dogs 4 months and older. They need to be current on all vaccines.

What if my dog has had little to no training?

That is ok. We will teach you what your dog needs to know for class during your evaluation. You will have a week to practice before your class begins. However, any help you need during class will be provided. We want you both to get a good workout!

My dog can be aggressive sometimes. Can we still participate in this class?

During your evaluation we can assess the level of "aggression" and see if your dog would be a good fit for the class. However, we will not be able to allow aggressive dogs in the fitness class. But we do offer private training that will benefit both you and your dog.

I have two dogs. Can I bring a different dog to class on a given day?

Yes, we ask that you bring both dogs to your evaluation and then you can pick which one you want to bring. Better yet, bring them both and a human for each! It is one dog, per class, per client.

Can my dog be off-leash?

NO. It is a county law that all dogs must be on leash at all times.

What if my dog just won’t pay attention?

If you give us a call the day before your class Jayme can plan on meeting you ½ hour before class starts to get your dog going.

What if we need more obedience training?

Canine College offers several different ways to train your dog. Give us a call and let’s talk it out.
