About Canine College
Jayme DesDunes has over 20 years experience training, breeding and handling dogs. While in college she studied with Mr. William Koehler, world renown author and developer of The Koehler Method of Dog Training.
Jayme earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science, from California State Polytechnic University, and continued her education by minoring in Animal Behavior. After graduation she moved back home to Virginia and went to work for Sandy and Carlos Mejias, of Olde Towne School for Dogs, in Alexandria, VA. In 1993 she took her education and knowledge of dogs and opened Canine College.
While starting the new business she also bought her first show dog, a Chinese Shar-Pei. She began showing and training, and eventually breeding her Shar-Pei under her kennel name Maplestone. Jayme and her breeding program have produced more then 40 Champions world wide. Most notable, Ch. Maplestone's Jacen JT, call name "OTIS", who was the #1 Chinese Shar-Pei in both Breed and All Breed in the year 2000, and has been featured on Animal Planet several times. He will be 14 years old in 2010 and is the ambassador of Canine College.
"Our main goal has always been to help people live a more cohesive life with their dogs". Through obedience training and behavioral management, Jayme has developed a very successful board- training program that has done just that. "I know I am doing something right when families bring me their next generation of dogs. It is important to me that owners know they can always count on me for the lifetimes of their dogs and any dogs that come after."
